The Saree That Became A Dress

Indian silk sarees have always attracted me. But draping them has never been my piece of cake (even though I would love to and I will very soon).

So, I fulfilled my desire by converting this gorgeous saree into a dress. What attracted me the most was this unusual combination of pink, green and gold.

This dress can be taken up a notch by adding a statement neck-pieces and heels to be worn at maybe a Sangeet party or any kind of a function where Indian wear is needed. I have layered my accessories by going OTT wearing both a chunky choker and a statement Ganesh neck-piece.

Dress- Custom made. Choker- Zahana. Ganesh neckpiece- Mom's closet. Heels- Catwalk.

Or, you could dress it down for an outing with friends by keeping the neck bare and just wearing simple bangles and instead wearing flat sandals (or even jutties or kohlapuris), which are much more comfortable for maybe a day at the mall.

Earrings and Bangles- Wonderland, Pune. Sandles- Ladygaga, Pune.

Just by adding or removing a few accessories here and there, you can either dress it up or keep it casual. So, go experiment with that saree you so want put on yourself.

Until next time….STAY SASSY!

  2. The pink colour with the beautiful green contrasting border is beautiful… All colours compliment your complexion but the pink brings out a lovely glow on your cheeks… Loved the idea of converting the saree to a dress keeping a simple silhouette which highlights the material and makes it unmissable… You accessories again are just right to bring out the Indianness of the saree dress… I’m eager to try something similar with the silk sarees lying untouched for ages in my wardrobe… Very innovative and gaga worthy… Love it
